I first discovered Lupita’s while walking to Craft Raccoon. I knew the building as the former home of the Explorer’s Club, and I hadn’t even realized a new restaurant had moved in. After checking out their social media, I knew I had to give it a try. Now, Lupita’s has become one of our regular spots.
I’m a girl who loves a good dip, so we have to talk about the chips and salsa. Instead of just one bowl of salsa, you’re treated to a trio of salsas, plus a bean dip topped with melted cheese. It’s the perfect way to kick off your meal.
I also haven’t ventured far from my favorite margarita. I love guava, so as soon as I saw the Guava Margarita on the menu, I knew that was the one for me. On our first visit, our server suggested the Passion Fruit Margarita and we’ve stuck with those ever since! They come either on the rocks or frozen, but in my opinion, frozen is absolutely the way to go. They also have a margarita flight if you want to check out multiple flavors.
Everything we’ve ordered here has been fantastic. If you’re having trouble deciding what to get, order the Lupita’s Special. It comes with two flautas, one quesadilla, one tamal, one crunchy taco, plus rice and beans.It’s the perfect plate because you get to sample a little bit of everything the restaurant does well.
On this visit, we ordered enchiladas and the Mexican tacos.
For the tacos, I chose al pastor, asada, and chicken. While all three were delicious, the asada was the clear standout. The steak was flavorful and tender, and it paired perfectly with the charred onions. It’s one of those tacos that’s simple but incredible.
The enchiladas are solid comfort food. They’re a little more Tex-Mex in style, stuffed with seasoned beef and covered in a rich roja sauce. If you’re craving meaty, cheesy, saucy goodness, these definitely hit the spot.
What to Know Before You Go
Lupita’s doesn’t have a dedicated parking lot, but there’s usually plenty of street parking nearby. They also have a fantastic happy hour and lunch menu, so it’s worth checking those out before your visit. If the weather is nice, don’t miss their cute patio (it’s a great place to enjoy a frozen margarita).
Final Thoughts
Order the Lupita’s Special if it’s your first visit, grab a frozen margarita, the guava gets my vote if you couldn’t tell, and don’t skip the chips and dips. Lupita’s has quickly become one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants, and every visit reminds us why we keep coming back.
